On Thursday October 26th Bob Hills of Burghclere was presented  with a Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship by current President of the Newbury Club Janet Lister. Bob was amongst friends at the regular Thursday Coffee morning held in Burghclere Church and had no inkling that his dedicated service to his local community over many years was being recognised.

Rotarian Eddie Webb nominated Bob citing his 26 years as a Parish Councillor and sometime Chair, his dedication to producing and distributing the village magazine, coordinating the neighbourhood Watch scheme, his willingness to partake in the good neighbour’s scheme. He helped to set up the miniature Railway in the village, organises quizzes and actively supports the Church.

Age does not deter this Octogenarian and his friends value his cheery smile and willingness to be ready with a helping hand.

Rotarians worldwide have as their motto  'Service above Self'.  Bob exemplifies this and the Newbury Rotary Club were pleased to add his name to their collection of local champions.

President Janet said she was delighted to present the award to him  in front of all his coffee morning fields.
