Random Acts Of Kindness Day

KNIGHTON ROTARY CLUB CELEBRATES “RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY”

ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 17^TH 2024

Knighton Rotary President Angela Ellis thought that the idea of “Random Acts of Kindness Day” was something the community of Knighton would find appealing. As President Angela said “It also showing that the Rotary Club can give back as well as do fundraising. We are very appreciative of the support given to us by the Knighton Co-op, who donated the flowers, and the tulips were provided at a discount by the Flower Box in Knighton. Many thanks to them both!” The posies were then made up by Rotary members Sheila Smith, Margaret Thorp and Christine Price.

The response from the community was very positive. President Angela went onto the High Street with a boxful of flower bouquets and gave them to the passers-by. Men, women, old and young. All had a very similar reaction. Absolute delight. One gentleman said "I have never been given flowers before, that has really made my day".

President Angela added “A lady who had just finished her chemotherapy treatment was nearly in tears telling me how delighted she was at our kindness. A family out walking their dogs were really taken aback when I offered the flowers from Knighton Rotary for Random Act of Kindness day. They were saying to each other how lovely that was as they continued down the road.” Back inside the Knighton Co-op President Angela gave a bouquet to the post mistress. "For me" she asked. “That's wonderful, thank you".

Rotary Community Chair Margaret Thorp said “We have to say that it was a very successful morning and very much appreciated by the townspeople of Knighton who received the flowers.” Margaret added “It was very much a team effort. On the day President Angela Ellis, Rotarians Christine Price, and myself, along with the help of Rotarians Brian Price and Norman Thorp, who supported with chocolates. These helped to ‘make the day’ for quite a few people.” The Rotary Club’s efforts were greatly appreciated and once again the Knighton Rotary Club had excellent community support to make the event a success. The Rotary Club have also had a mention on Facebook by a lady who has taken a photograph of her flowers and posted with her thanks!
