Wickford supports Young Lives vs Cancer

Young Lives vs Cancer is a charity which supports young cancer patients and their families in order to get through the difficult times while they are being treated

Young Lives vs Cancer is a charity which helps young cancer sufferers and their families through the trials and tribulations which come after a diagnosis.

Apart from the devastation of the initial news there is a lot to take in, and even when a treatment programme is identified the challenges don't stop there.

Cancer treatments take patients away from their families when they are most vulnerable, and it's not just the p[atient that suffers. Siblings feel the anxiety of a loved one, and parents can find the financial challenges overwhelming, espcially if they have to takle time off work to care for their child, to take them for treatments etc.

Young Lives vs Cancer recognises these challenges and does what it can to alleviate at least some of the effects, by providing emotional and physical support, including financial support where it can, and also providing accommodation close to cancer centres so that families can have a "home from home" while treatment is being provided.

Kim Mangelshot from the charity came and spoke to us recently about how the charity operates and gave us some insights into the challenges their clients face, and what they can do to help.

We are pleased to have been able to donate £1000 to the cause as a result of recent fundraising activities.

back We are very proud to work with the Local community in many ways, from raising money for local good causes through to providing events and facilities for the people of the town. This section tells you more about what we do.
