A Quizzical Christmas

We now know how successful our Christmas Challenge for End Polio Now, has been.  

Vital Support

As reported on other pages of this website, we have made a number of donations to Rotary’s End Polio Now campaign this year, of which the latest was the Christmas Challenge.  Roger Kettle, originator and principal organiser of the quiz said,  “The Christmas Challenge’s contribution was achieved through the vital support of members, friends and family, and maximising our contributions through the Government’s “Gift Aid” Scheme, and utilising GlobalGiving and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.”

90,000 lives saved

Total receipts from the challenge were £2357 including Gift Aid, and the Global Giving bonus.  This includes just under £200 raised by the children of Buttsbury Junior School.  Add in the contribution of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the grand total is £7070.

So this challenge yielded £7,070, which will ensure the purchase of almost 90,000 Polio vaccinations depending on this year’s purchase price.
