Families flock to Rotary Easter Egg Hunt

Sun, Apr 20th 2025 at 11:00 am - 3:00 pm

Given sunny weather and the attraction of Rodley Nature Reserve this free annual Aireborough Rotary event proved a winner with enthusiastic Leeds Families

For the first time the staged 1,000 online bookings were a sellout ensuring that the volunteers from Aireborough Rotary and Inner Wheel, Friends of Rotary and Rodley Nature Reserve were all run off their feet throughout the day. The fact that the sun also brought out canal boat enthusiasts in abundance meant that the opening and closing of the bridge added to the entertainment for the impressive car parking team.

The tombola was a major attraction with close on 300 eggs of all sizes drawing in the crowds, donated by club members and friends supplemented by gifts from Morrisons stores in Guiseley, Horsforth, Thornbury and Yeadon as well as Owlcotes Asda. The ever popular Hook a Duck eventually ran out of prizes and the plant stall, toys and books, face painting and the Human Fruit machine all drew in their admirers. Every child having completed the circuit of the Reserve and proudly filling their individual eggboxes chose their bonus reward.

At the end of the day more than £2300 had been raised for the participating charities of Aireborough Rotary, Aireborough Inner Wheel and the hosts Rodley Nature Reserve.
