50th
Charter Anniversary Celebration Dinner
Held on Thursday 15th
May 2025 at Ivy Hill Hotel 62 Rotarians and guests enjoyed a very fine 3 course
dinner. We were very pleased to have Honorary Members John The Lord Petre and
The Honorable Dominic Petre in attendance plus Lord & Lady Pickles.
It was good to welcome many Rotarians from other local clubs plus 1240 District
Governor Anne Moriaty and our new Area Governor Richard Rackham
After the meal, Co-President Neil Macalister outlined a potted history of 50
years Rotary in Ingatestone before raising a Toast to the Guests.
District Governor Anne replied for the guests, presented our 50 Year RI
Certificate to Vice President Jon Cloke and toasted the Rotary Club of Ingatestone.
Next, our Foundation Committee Chair Nigel Wagland made a special presentation
of a Multiple Paul Harris Fellowship to Charles Storer, founder of the
successful local charity, Hope and Aid Direct. Charles already had been awarded
a PHF by RC of Witham about 15 years ago – hence a MPHF.
We then enjoyed a very interesting talk by Lord Eric Pickles about his life in
politics for his early days in Bradford – as our local Brentwood MP – and his
current projects in the House of Lords.
Then an opportunity to take to the floor to the music of Dan Sharp, who
entertained us till the evening finished at 11:00 p.m.
The Menu Card which listed our current club members, Honorary Members and all our
Past Presidents can be viewed as a PDF.
