Hi all local Presidents and Secretaries (please forgive duplication!) You may not be aware that following last year’s successful schools poster competition - “Reduce Single Use Plastics” we are running another Schools Poster Competition this year. We are fortunate to have had an even greater response this year, with the wider topic of Climate Change. A presentation evening for the prize winners is to be held at 6pm on Monday 18 July at The Livermead House Hotel, either on the lawned area at the side of the Kingsley Suite or inside the Kingsley if the weather is unfavourable. Each winner will receive a prize of £100 and the ‘special mentions’ will get zoo visit tickets. We are hopeful that all the winners, special mentions and school representatives, the 4 judges and representatives of the 2 Zoos, who are providing ticket prizes, will be to available for the Presentation. An exhibition of the posters will be set up and all entrants will be given a certificate. The Rotary Club of Torquay is kindly producing and paying for all the certificates including personalised ones for the winners and special mentions which will include a copy of their poster. Please advise your members that we would be delighted if they would like to join us for the event. If you could advise me of likely numbers it will aid the provision of suitable seating. As I am hoping to reintroduce the lapsed tradition of club visits it would be a ideal occasion for Brixham, Dartmouth, Sunrise and Torquay to achieve a club visit to Tormohun. Arranging our visits to Babbacombe, Paignton, Preston and Totnes should perhaps await the results of the Bay Clubs event on 17 July. Rog Sent from my iPad
