About us

Why we join Rotary?
The one thing that Rotary Clubs around the world have in common is the fact that their members get together socially to organise community activities, or to take part in hands-on projects  designed to improve the lives of others. It’s a simple way to ‘give something back’ in life.
Joining Rotary opens up opportunities to serve the local community in a myriad of different ways. Penzance Rotary engages with other community groups, helping to leverage their projects and events with funding and practical support. Rotarians often choose to become involved with the community groups that the Club supports, and members assist with the Club’s own projects and activities whenever they are able to. Members currently pay an annual subscription of £100 to Penzance Rotary for their membership of Rotary International, the equivalent of just £2 per week to be part of a worldwide movement helping those less fortunate than ourselves.

Not yet joined?

Rotary clubs are improving lives around the world every day through thousands of local projects.

Penzance Rotary organises fundraising and social activities including the town's Classic Car Rallies on Penzance Promenade, practice Mock Interviews for school leavers, Vocational Competitions for young people, health awareness days, concerts for youngsters, outings for the elderly, litter picking sessions and much, much more.

We use money generated through the Rotary Shop of Penzance to help fund food banks, provide relief from hardship, assist local welfare organisations and to support other worthwhile causes.

This is where you come in!

With every new member comes either knowledge, skills, experience, contacts or all of the aforementioned, and all of which can be put to good use as we look for new ways to serve our community.

Making a difference.

We use our collective knowledge of local issues to identify areas of need, then apply our expertise and our diverse perspectives to find solutions. Rotary

members are very likely working in your community right now to feed the hungry, assist disadvantaged children and the elderly, maintain parks and playgrounds, and much more.

Can you help?

EmailPenzanceRotary@gmail.com and arrange to meet up for a coffee or come along for a chat with the group over a complimentary lunch.

Eradication of polio worldwide.

By 1985 hundreds of thousands of children were contracting polio each year, with around 1,000 children becoming paralysed every day.

Rotary launched PolioPlus, a multi-million dollar initiative to immunise all the world's children against polio. Rotary Clubs around the world have made it a priority to work towards the eradication of polio.

Since 1986, more than two billion children have received the oral polio vaccine and endemic polio has almost been eliminated across the planet. In the last year, just 30 cases of wild polio have been found worldwide.

Together we can finish the job.
