Welcome to the website of the Rotary Club of Otter Valley
The Rotary Club of Otter Valley.
The Club was founded in 1986 and has just celebrated the 25th anniversary of the granting of it’s charter at a Grand Dinner at the Woodbury Park . It is a lively Club with currently 36 members.
The Club is very active in its support for Community and International projects. In the past year it has helped to raise in excess of £30 000 for such activities, particularly through the South East Devon Community Raffle. The Club is also active in supporting Shelterbox.
The Club has been twinned with The Rotary Club of Dun Laoghaire, Eire for the past ten years and we visit each other in alternate years for fun and fellowship. The pic below gives an impression that some of our members could defend the castle on the site of the Battle of the Boyne.
Appleday at Luppitt
A recent connection took us to the Robert Owen Community Farm at Barnfield Farm, Luppitt, Honiton where 11 residents find a peaceful and compatible lifestyle to cope with their learning disabilities.
Our job on the day was to help them gather a large crop of apples and to crush and juice them - courtesy of local juice makers, Richard & Jill Courtney and their equipment - fill containers ready for storage. The pic below shows members in the middle of the juicing session.
Further involvement of RCOV will take in conversion of an outbuilding to be used as a media room
Local Community Work
Long term members of Otter Valley Nick Agg-Manning & Geoff Hulley, are pictured below helping to raise funds at an auction for BATON, a local charity supporting the families of injured servicemen.
A few of us exchange our homes with visiting Rotarians from across the world through the Rotary Home Exchange Programme.
