Brigg Rotarians provided the opportunity for residents at the Leonard Cheshire Disability Home in Barnetby to enjoy a day out when they visited Scarborough in May 2009 on a rather dull and drizzly day but this could not dampen everyone's enthusiasm.
Rotarians and carers provided escorts and wheel chair muscle power where required as they enjoyed the full range of activities from a 'push along the prom' to visiting the Lifeboat, shopping and all the fun of the fair.
This is just part of Brigg Rotary's annual commitment to the home to provide support for the fantastic work done by the organisation in changing attitudes towards disability and serving disabled people.
Some residents have become old friends over the years whereas others have only been at the home for a short time or are receiving respite care. However, everyone enjoyed their day out and fish and chips on the sea front at a local cafe where staff could not have been more helpful especially in arranging suitable spaces for lunch.
Brigg Rotarians will also be providing tea and entertainment later in the year at the home in Barnetby and supporting staff in other ways as part of their ongoing connection with the home.
