Community, Environment and Vocational Service

Rotary’s Community, Environment and Vocational Service is about making a difference in our local communities. Rotarians are “People of Action” who offer their time, energy and expertise to assist with community projects.

These may involve fund raising and the use of funds raised, but most involve hands on volunteering to a wide range of local projects in line with our ethos of “Service Above Self".

Current projects include working with, or organising, community groups in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, starting up a Community Corps of volunteers, helping at food banks, setting up sewing groups, supporting local hospices.

Other examples of Rotary volunteering include running a memory café, organising a lunch for older people or those with disabilities, providing a day out for disadvantaged young people, holding a health awareness day, planting trees, clearing woodland paths, planning and constructing a sensory garden, or litter collecting.

You may also have seen one of Rotary’s Santa sleighs in your area, attended a Rotary concert, visited a firework display or classic car show, taken part in a marathon or other event organised or supported by your local Rotary Club.
