Younger People

Youth Service offers so many opportunities for young people. From Rotary GB&I youth competitions such as young chef, young photographer and youth speaks, to recognising outstanding work in the community through the Rotary GB&I Young Citizens Awards which are presented at the Rotary GB&I Conference each year and broadcast live on the BBC News Channel.

There is also an opportunity to work in teams and challenge the mind whilst developing skills in technology with the Rotary GB&I Technology Tournaments or to study and visit overseas with Rotary Youth Exchange as well as develop leadership skills with Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.

The aim is to help young people discover and develop their own personal skills, grow their self-esteem and enjoy themselves in the process. Whether it is RotaKids, Interact or taking on the challenge of Rotary GB&I Young Writer, there is something for everyone to participate in.

Clubs and districts all play a vital role in reaching out to youngsters so make use of your district youth officers, get involved with your schools and youth groups and share your stories of success with the resource group.

Young Rotary

RotaKids and Interact  give anyone from the age of 7 all the way through to 18 the chance to develop personal skills and become a part of Rotary from an early age. Rotarians can find out more about how to get involved with these, and other youth schemes here.

Youth Speaks  RCNVR has sponsored three local schools,  Cransley School, Sir John Deanes and University of Chester Academy Northwich, in the Northwich Youth Speaks finals this year. The teams from Sir John Deanes and University of Chester Academy Northwich won through to the Rotary District Youth Speaks final in Stockport. Following the District Final Sir John Deanes have now won through to the Rotary Regional finals in Wrexham on March 29^th. Our Club members will be attending. 

Young Chef RCNVR sponsored four teams from two schools, Weaverham H.S. x 2, University of Chester Academy x 2, in the Northwich finals with one chef from Weaverham winning through to the District final and subsequently winning through to the Rotary Regional final which will be held at Morecambe & Lancaster College on March 22^nd.

Kids Out Once again this year we are taking up to 35 students plus their carers from Greenbank Special Needs School to Chester Zoo on June 9^th. Thanks to Bruce Ursell for organising tickets at Chester Zoo once again this year and Graeme Soutar for organising the students and carers from Greenbank Special Needs School.

Rotary Summer Camp Again this year RCNVR are assisting Rotary Districts 1050 & 1280 at the Annual Rotary Summer Camp at Pettypool in July. RCNVR will be hosting the international students for the day on July 31^st, further details to follow. We have also arranged through CWaC Youth Services and Amplify Northwich for local young people from the Northwich area to attend the Summer Camp at Pettypool on July 28^th where they will interact with the international students for the day. Urban Kids Go Outdoors Again we are sponsoring a group of Year 5 students from Victoria Road Primary School Northwich for a day on the Urban Kids Go Outdoors programme at Pettypool in May or June, more details to follow. Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) RCNVR have contacted both CWaC Youth Services and Amplify Northwich enquiring if any of their young people would be interested in attending the RYLA days in Buxton and at Pettypool in Sandiway.

Fund Raiser The Youth Service committee is organising a 100 Club which it is hoped will start in March 2014. To date we have over 90 people indicating an interest, more would be most welcome, friends family, work colleagues etc. On his return from holiday Colin Booth, who is organising the 100 Club, will be asking those interested to commit by sending him either a cheque or Direct Debit so that the first draw can take place. It is hoped the 100 Club will contribute between 400 and 500 to our Charity Account each year.

C B Homes in Partnership with Rotary Funding the 'Kids Go Outdoors' Programme.

Today saw the opening of the latest CB Homes development, Ascot Court in Rudheath Northwich. The Show Home which was opened by Cllr Ron Woodier, who has also had a road named after him on the development. As part of the opening ceremony, Colin Booth, MD of CB Homes and a member of the Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal announced that CB Homes are also sponsoring 5 days on the Urban Kids Go Outdoors programme at Petty Pool Outdoor Centre for classes of children from Rudheath Primary School. This programme has been developed by the Petty Pool Trust with the support of the Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal. The Rotary Club of Northwich Vale Royal is now looking for other local businesses to sponsor a school of their choice through the Urban Kids Go Outdoors programme at Petty Pool.
