12 Rotarians met on Zoom to listen to an update from Jennifer Gill, founder of the Love Oliver Children’s Cancer Charity. Today Jennifer spoke about the Cook Xmas Appeal. 4years ago Love Oliver teamed up with the company “Cook” to provide frozen meals for parents in parent accommodation attached to Oncology wards in Edinburgh or Glasgow . This ensured that stressed parents were well nourished with the minimum of effort on their part,
At Christmas families whose child is receiving cancer treatment can place an order via Love Oliver for a Festive meal from Cook . So far this year 38 families have been referred by hospital social workers . Recently bereaved families who need to spend time alone at Christmas may prefer to receive a budget of around £100 to fill their freezer , thus relieving pressure at a very painful time .
Donations may be made to this excellent cause on line . The Rotary Club of Glenrothes has pledged to Donate £300.
The club Xmas lunch will be held on Thursday 16th December at Gilvenbank Hotel . Cost £15 a head . Members to arrive at 1245 pm to ensure a prompt start . The Christmas address will be given by Rev,Alan Kimmit from St Columba’s church in the town.Members are respectfully requested to carry out a lateral flow test prior to arrival.
President Brian and his wife , Kay, visited Leslie Community Pantry this week where a cheque was presented to manager, Gayle Wilson.
Ewen McDonald reported that he has received 224 selection boxes from Morrison’s supermarket in the town in support of the club’s Xmas appeal. These will be divided up between various organisations helping families in need at this time of year.
