Lunch time meeting - 12.55pm - Club Business and Fellowship

On Thursday 6th April 2023 President Brian Johnson took the meeting as he welcomed 16 Rotarians and guest Rotarian David Wright from a Surrey Club to this our lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes.

As we did not have a speaker today the meeting was used to discuss relevant club business.

Wilna Roger advised that the judging of the Young Artist Competition had taken place at her house by judge Misha a Principal Teacher of Art. The competition with the theme Sunset by the beach being won by Olivia and in second place Freya, both from Southwood Primary School.

At a Rotary in Fife meeting Wilna Roger who is the club’s representative had arranged for our Rotarian Ewen Macdonald to give a talk to other clubs with his Order of St Johns hat on regarding purchase and installation of Defibrillators. On this subject we are delighted to advise that following fundraising by Brighter Futures Health Hub, (MPH boilers Plumbing and heating specialists) also £700 financial support by ourselves and further financial support by St John's patient transport, a defibrillator has been installed today at Brighter Futures Health Hub at Peploe Drive. A further defibrillator will be installed at Cadham shops. Well done to everybody who has supported us and the other groups to enable the installation of these lifesaving pieces of equipment.

President Brian Johnson advised that our Citizen of the year award had been unanimously agreed by the club to go to local pharmacist Bernie Brown at Cadham Pharmacy, has been a driving force nationally to make improvements in the health service.

Scott Galloway mentioned the forthcoming Race night to be held at Gilvenbank Hotel on Friday 7th April in support of Fife Gingerbread and Autism Rocks.

Linda Ballingall spoke about the heritage centre and all the artifacts which they had been collecting with a need to find homes for many of them when the centre closes.

Next week Thursday 13th April 2023 arrival by 12.45pm commencing at 12.55pm with two of our Rotarians Kay Johnson and Jean Haughey giving their vocational talks also and relevant club business and fellowship.

Having organised many sportsman's dinners, afternoon teas, comedy, and curry afternoons, we organised our first Race night. It is expected to have raised £2500 with the main recipients being Fife Gingerbread and Autism Rocks Fife.
