Sarah Hall, Service Manager of the British Red Cross, gave a talk to the Rotary Club of March on Monday, 10th August on a unique new service being offered to the people of Fenland. This is to offer care and general help to people discharged from hospital into their own home, who otherwise would struggle to cope.
The Red Cross vision is - 'A world where everyone gets the help they need in a crisis', and this new scheme in Fenland illustrates the way it can be used on a domestic scale. Short term care is provided with help for shopping,collecting prescriptions, companionship, light housework and general support.
£27,000 has been provide by the Roddons Partnership to enable this ground breaking scheme to be piloted in Fenland. Sarah Hall was accompanied by Tracey Impey, local Co-ordinator.
Other Red Cross projects include: First Aid at Public Events,First Aid Training, Community First Aid, Emergency Response, Medical Loans, Fire Emergency Support Service, Fund Raising, Shops and now the Care in the Home Scheme.
