Vice President John Orbell presented the
awards.

 The Rotary Club's Young Chef of the Year is a National Competition held
annually, and the March Club held its qualifying round on Saturday 29th
January, with 6 young competitors from, and hosted by, Neale Wade Community
College.

Required to produce a meal for two, within the set budget, sponsored by
March Rotary Club, the menu being the personal choice of the boys and girls
participating. Tasty meals on offer ranged from Tomato and Pepper Chicken,
Lamb Chops with Duchess Potatoes, Zesty Lemon and Lime Cheesecake, and
Peppermint Meringue.

Judges, Mayor of March, Andrew Pugh with local Gourmet, Richard Wedgbury,
had the pleasure of tasting the culinary delights. Points were awarded on
preparation, presentation, and palatability.

The competitors, who helped each other, in this fun and friendly morning ,
were Michael Penn, Melissa Dwyer, Jordan Simon, Summer Clarke. The winner,
by half a mark from runner up Jack Barlow, was Robert Stone.

His Menu included Chicken Supreme and a Raspberry Roulade with Mango Coulis.
Robert now goes forward to the next round in Bury St Edmunds in two weeks
time.
