Best Business Advisor in the North West

Thu, Mar 27th 2008 at 12:00 am - 2:00 am

Rotarian Alan Bond best Business Advisor in the North West Alan Bond, a past president of the Rotary Club of Southport Links has, for several years, been a volunteer business advisor for KGV students completing the Young Enterprise Company Programme. His advice has been invaluable to every company he has advised at KGV, however his contribution was so important to this years company, Cyclone, that they nominated him for the Advisor of the Year Award presented by the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales) Joe Barrow (pictured), Link Teacher at KGV for the Young Enterprise programme, said “the company had a good idea and in the end were profitable and successful, but part way through their planning, the event they were trying to organise faltered, due to a lack of appropriate venue. Alan must have been very persuasive to the venue manager who soon came on board and supported the students with their event” Young Enterprise North West was so impressed with the nomination from the company that they awarded Alan North West Business Advisor of the Year from nominations from Lancashire and Cumbria as well as Merseyside. Sally Holden (pictured), from Sefton Young Enterprise Area Board said, “The Young Enterprise Company Programme is a wonderful opportunity for young people aged 14 – 19 to experience the skills and pressures of entrepreneurship. The benefits they get from the programme are supported by a wonderful team of volunteer advisors and Alan Bond is an outstanding example of the support and advice that can make the difference between success and failure” Joe and Sally surprised Alan at his Rotary meeting by presenting the award and are both delighted that he will continue his support for the programme at KGV in this academic year. The Rotary Club of Southport Links support of Young Enterprise is one of a number of community projects involving young people in schools. These projects include “Interact” in Greenbank high School and “Service above Self” in local Primary schools
