New Rotary President for Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay

Fred Housego has succeeded Bob
Tait as president of the Rotary Club of Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay.
Fred is a  retired chartered accountant
who worked for Marconi at Hillend and latterly in Singapore for Charter  PLC. Fred now lives in Crossford, is married
to Anne and has a son, Stephen, who lives in Edinburgh.

At the end of its financial year
in June the club had distributed more than £22,000 to international and local
good causes - a record for the club. Shelter boxes and life straws were
provided for those affected by natural disasters in Haiti
and Pakistan, substantial
contributions were made to a hospital in Mambilina in northern Zambia, to a water project in Encongongolweni in
Malawi
and to Rotary International's campaign to end polio worldwide. Nearer to home
financial support was given to MacMillan Cancer Care, to Maggies Centres in
Kirkcaldy and Edinburgh, to CHAS, Fife SANDS and to Piggy Bank Kids, the
charity fronted by Sarah Brown. Support was also provided to Inverkeithing High School,
to several primary schools in the area and to a wide range of other west Fife good causes including several day care centres,
Inverkeithing Highland Games, the Mary Leishman Foundation and Aberdour's
Village in Bloom committee. Outgoing club president Bob Tait said ' our thanks
are due to all those who supported our fundraising initiatives and helped us to
reach such an impressive figure.  Rotary
club members are pleased to be able to make a contribution to each of our local
communities'.
