Youth Exchange

Historically the Club have been very active in Youth Exchange and in the past 12 months have welcomed two international New Generations Exchange participants from Brazil and the USA. 

In July we joined with six other local Rotary Clubs to participate in an International Youth Camp where 12 young people from different countries spent 11 days based in Bewdley. Read more about the Youth Camp on pages 5 and 6 of the August Club Newsletter

Young Chef

Young Chef is a national Rotary competition sponsored and jointly promoted by Filippo Berio. The Club have sponsored competitions at Wolverley High School since 2008 when Laura, a young chef from the  school, just missed getting into the national final by one point. Youth Speaks

The Club got involved in the Rotary Youth Speaks competition in 2009. A team from King Charles High School in Kidderminster was sponsored by the Club in the District round of the competition. The report can be read here. Unfortunately no local High School became involved in the 2010 project but there are hopes that one or more schools will take part in the 2011 Competition. Young Photographer

Bewdley High School has produced some impressive photographers from amongst its students and success has been gained by the winners of the Club round of the Competition in both 2009, 2010 and 2014 at district and national level rounds.

Young Writer

2010 was the first year that the competition was entered into by a local primary school. A pupil from Chaddesley Corbett Endowed Primary School who won the Club round then went on to win the district round and then to achieve second place in the national final. Entrants were asked to create a poem or a 200 word story on the environment. The winning entry entitled 'The Leaf Less Story', photos of a storyboard and a letter from 'Fireman Sam' which judge and creator of several books and TV series, Jim Driscoll, arranged as prizes can be viewed here.
