Botshabelo Christmas 2012

Posted on Rotary Club of Bewdley's Facebook Page 10th December 2012

The Rotary Club of Bewdley have sent some early Christmas cheer to the children of the Botshabelo Children's Home in South Africa. We have close connections through the volunteering of New Generations Exchange students, Becca Tyrrell and Lauren Wright, and links with the Rotary Club of Kyalami. Having supported many local causes with funds raised by the Severn Way Walk, we have provided a donation to the children who benefit from this wonderful home. Lauren Wright, who is returning to the home for the Christmas period, will be presenting the staff of Botshabelo with a donation on behalf of all of the members of the Rotary Club of Bewdley.

I felt so proud picking the kids up from their first day of school today! Our 2 year old was bouncing off the walls and shouted 'bye guys! see you all tomorrow!' as he walked out the door.

Our 5 year old was given the option to stay and play with the other kids or go home but she said didn't want to stay, when I asked her why she said 'I just want to go home to my mommy' and looked at the ground.. I could see so much sadness in her eyes, seeing all the other kids go home with their parents is tough for them.

Keep your loved ones close people and appreciate them before they become something you had! She got extra love and attention today and the day ended nicely with a movie on the sofa with one of the newborns sat with us, then half way through she randomly turned to me, kissed me on the cheek and said 'I love you bigger than the grass' lol. I'm gonna miss my life here but I don't think there are any amount of words that can describe how happy I am that I have finally submitted my last essay and can spend my last 5 days uni free!
