Each year, extraordinary Rotary clubs across the world are awarded a citation signed by that year's president of Rotary International.
The award is made in recognition of clubs "that achieve an array of accomplishments that help them become stronger, deliever effective service, and enhance their public image."
The Rotary Club of Oadby is well used to receiving the award and this year it was accepted on behalf of the club by president David Knight. It was handed over by Assistant Governor John Saunders.
The certificate had been signed by District Governor Chris Chew and by President of Rotary International Sakuji Tanaka.
It bears the 2012-2013 slogan for Rotary International "Peace Through Service".
One of the areas rewarded by the citation is membership. Rotary, like all service organisations, has a membership which is declining from 1.2 million. Mr Saunders said that he had looked back and found that the Rotary Club of Oadby is growing. It now has 49 members, including two honorary members. That leaves it
