Lloyd Fitzhugh from Wrexham, spoke generally of some of his life experiences.
Lloyd's estate is situated on the outskirts of Wrexham. On the periphery of the estate at Bersham, stands the ruins of an iron foundry which produced canon balls for both sides of the American civil war, and produced the cylinder block for James Watt's steam engine.
Lloyd went on to talk about his love of farming and how this came to a halt when the coal board took over 80% of his estate for open cast mining, which made the farm unviable. A change of direction meant considerable charity/public work which saw him as chairman of the Royal Welsh Show, Chairmanship of the North Wales Health Authority, and latterly High Sherriff of Denbighshire and Flintshire.
Many anecdotes followed on the workings of these institutions. The best being involvement with Royal visits in his capacity of Deputy Lord Lieutenant, a post he still holds.
A vote of thanks was given by Rtn Malcolm Pratt, who also introduced Lloyd.
