Nick Dyer, recently appointed Chairman of the Museum Trustees was pleased to report another great year in which visitor numbers and the scale of activities round the museum had increased. He was keen to show the building, not only as a magnet for tourism, but also a centre point which could give the residents a sense of unity and purpose. Receiving a cheque from the President he pointed out how much such contributions were appreciated. In the current economic climate, grant aid levels, on which the foundation was so reliant,,cannot be guaranteed.
With an intriguing variety of visual aids, Kate Dobson illustrated how the Museum was responding to the interests of different groups who were drawn to the building. It was indeed interesting to learn what a wide spectrum of the community were finding enjoyment in what the museum has to offer.
Herbert Rowsell thanked the speakers for their update on the Museum's activities and reminded members of how the Museum came into being in January 1980, no prizes for guessing who was behind it's formation!
