Angela takes over the top job!

Angela Fryer (pictured left) is the new President of the Rotary Club of Furness Peninsula.

The former local schoolteacher recently took over the top job from banker Tracy Trelore.

Angela's ambition is to see the club attract new members to add to the thirty-four men and women who are already doing great work in communities at home and abroad.

The group of friends meets at Michaelson House Hotel, Fairfield Lane, Barrow-in-Furness each Thursday evening, and they all share the same passion - to make a difference.

Once a month they welcome a guest speaker who might be representing a local charity or presenting some general information about something of interest. They also have a meal night and a social evening, in addition to looking after the business side of the club.

Angela said, "We are an informal, friendly club and actively welcome both women and men as potential members, and we span the range of ages from the twenties through to those who've been around a bit longer!"

"The club exists to assist the community by giving our time and service where it's needed, be it at home or abroad, by identifying local, national and international charitable projects that we can help."

"We also do community activities like beach cleans and organise social events for our members and families with the emphasis on having fun."

After she was installed as President Angela installed local businessman John Queen as President-Elect.

More information about the club can be found on their Facebook page.
