President Mike Clutton opened the meeting on Tuesday 2nd September and asked Past President Mike Pearce to introduce the guest speaker Billy Baxter.
Billy is a Rehabilitation Training Liaison Officer for Blind Veterans UK and the official Town Crier of Llandudno, an achievement that he considers to be his finest. He is only the second blind Town Crier in the history of the British Isles. A former Staff Sergeant in the British Army, he lost his sight in 1997 because of a virus picked up in Bosnia. His wife Karen and the Blind Veterans UK were extremely instrumental in rescuing him from his angry depression and obtaining for him the great life he now has.
Billy has done some remarkable things, particularly since he became blind. In recounting some of these with his infectious sense of humour, he regally entertained the Rotarians and their guests which included Ian Turner who travels with Billy and Phil Williams.
The vote of thanks was given by Mike Pearce
