SPARKLES and Spitfires will set the scene for the start of double celebrations of a hotel and airfield which share close links.

A 1930s/1940s themed dinner dance will mark the 80th birthday of the hotel, whilst the airfield will celebrate its 73rd birthday.

The Moorland Garden Hotel had its foundation stone laid on August 15, 1934 and RAF Harrowbeer opened on the same date in 1941.
