CHILDREN will be able to catch a glimpse of Santa and his elf in their sleigh this Christmas.

Roborough Rotary Club's Christmas sleigh will be back again this year and children will be able to meet Santa and his team.

The club will be raising money for charities in the area with particular emphasis on those that provide help and support to children and young people.

"This is our main fundraising activity of the year and it's a community event because it involves local children," said president of Roborough Rotary Club Phil Chesters.

"We've been doing this for years and years."

The club's Christmas sleigh, newly refurbished thanks to the mechanics at Scoot-A-Long, will be taking to the road again on Wednesday, December 3.

Santa and his team of helpers will start by touring the Roborough area between 6pm and 8pm.

Look out for them in Widewell and Little Fancy Close on December 3, in Fort Austin Avenue on December 5, in the Upland Drive area of Derriford on December 8, the Looseleigh Lane area on December 9 and finally in Manadon on December 12.

Santa will be at Morrisons, Outland Road, on December 10 and 11 and from December 21 to 23.

He will also pay a visit to Asda in Estover from December 15-17.

"Roborough Rotary Club are so grateful to the people of Plymouth whose generosity makes it possible for us to support all these great local charities," said Mr Chesters.

Among the charities to receive donations from the sleigh last year were the Plymouth Street Pastors, Horizons Sailing Trust, Scoot-A-Long and WhizzKidz.
