Rotary Club of Holderness Golf Am-Am
Friday 28 April 2017 at Hainsworth Park Golf Club
The Rotary Clubs of Holderness and Hornsea & East Riding once again combined forces to organise a very successful event.
Our appreciation goes to Hainsworth Park Golf Club, who proved excellent hosts for the competition, and Heron Foods for their sponsorship and prizes.
Special thanks to the huge generosity of the competitors who all turned up on the day and helped to raise the magnificent sum of £2,600.
All proceeds from the
Am-Am will be shared equally between the two clubs, the money received by
Holderness to be used primarily to support the following charities:
The Wheelchair Foundation
There are more than 100 million people in the world who need a wheelchair. About 1 million have the use of one. Without a wheelchair, they have to crawl, or be carried or, most likely of all, to sit in a corner and never go anywhere. Rotary has sourced a sturdy wheelchair which we can buy for £75. We want to buy as many as we can, not only to transform their quality of life, but to allow them to become economically contributing members of their communities.
The Goodwill Children’s Homes, India
Every year we support this charity which provides orphans with a home and an education. The cost is £240 a year per child.
Great Lakes High School, Uganda
We sponsor 3 secondary school pupils a year who have either been orphaned or are from extremely poor homes, at a cost of £180 each a year. This gives them a bedroom, an education, access to health care and the chance to become productive members of their communities.
Every year disasters and emergencies suddenly occur. We try to help reduce suffering if we can. Last year we sent £500 for the victims of catastrophic flooding in Pakistan. This year we have already donated £400 to assist in the fight against Ebola in West Africa.
We always donate to charities which we know will use the money honestly and responsibly
