"The Welsh Assembly"

On Tuesday 4th August to an audience of Rotarians including Brian Evans from the Rotary Club of Llangollen, wives and guests, Janet Finch- Saunders spoke about her experiences in politics.

Jane, a honorary member of the Llandudno Rotary Club,is the Assembly Member for Aberconwy in the National Assembly for Wales. She was as a Conwy County Borough Councillor for 8 years and Llandudno Town Council for 17 years. In 2004 Janet was elected as the Mayor of Llandudno, following in the footsteps of her parents, both of whom have been long serving Councillors in Aberconwy

Janet serves as Shadow Minister for Local Government and she explained in some detail the powers devolved to Wales under the Government of Wales Act 2006.There are 20 broad areas known as subjects and these include, local government, tourism and environment

In her meetings with her constituents and others she is of the opinion that the overall understanding of the devolved process is not good and needs to be addressed

The vote of thanks was given by Gordon MacKie
