On Wednesday 25th November Jim McCloud gave an illuminating and interesting talk on " People living with Dementia"
He stressed the need to make rooms/ home dementia friendly to enable the person with dementia to feel at home and secure.
The emphasis must be on allowing the sufferer to enjoy the moment ie a trip to the sea or countryside or even shopping, the fact that they may not remember is immaterial.
To reminiscence with songs and stories from their past can bring much pleasure and recall, albeit temporary.
It was a pleasure to thank Jim for his presentation.
We support his "I'm a Dementia Friend" initiative.
