Paul Wainwright.

Paul Wainwright

Well liked and respected by everyone who was fortunate to know him, 57 years old Paul Wainwright sadly passed away in April 2015 after a battle with cancer lasting two years.
Paul had been married to Janet for 20 years. They had two children together, 19 year old Nicole and 17 year old Liam.

Born in Rochdale, Paul was a drummer from the age of 16 playing in some of the local Rochdale clubs. He still played his drum kit at home until fairly recently. From Rochdale, his banking career with RBS took him to the Isle of Man where he stayed for several years until the bank moved him to the Fylde.

Paul had been a member of Round Table at Fleetwood and Lancaster where he was working at that time and it was at Lancaster that he became a Rotarian. When his job brought him back to the Fylde, Paul transferred his Rotary membership to Kirkham. He served as chairman of our Club’s Community Services committee and latterly Club Treasurer. His services were also in demand at Ribby-with-Wrea School where he became Chairman of Governors and Treasurer of the Trustees.

Paul was a graduate of the Cranfield Business School and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. For many years Paul was active in organising his bank’s social activities which were quite many and varied. He held a number of senior banking positions and, during that time, became an Area Director, latterly connected with local businesses.
