Rotary Member"™s Award 2015
10th December 2015

The Rotary Wheel

A great attendance for our Annual Awards, considering it was blowing a gale outside. The near full house inside was warmed by the celebration of another wonderful year of service, fellowship and good sport!

Fiona Ross, welcomed everyone and Alex McDougall kicked off with announcing ‘Best Sporting Moment’ which was a joint prize to Bill Duncan and Hamish Milne and Rotarian Human Vulture Award went to David Robb

David Robb was apparently eating someone else out of house and home on Awards day as he wasn’t present, but was overheard later to say ‘I am sure this must be a case of mistaken identity!’.

Best Lunchtime Companion confused some members, one in particular who nominated ‘that woman off Countdown’ but it was for a fellow Rotarian and the winner was a landslide in choosing Jimmy Robertson

Mike Hope, won, with the most nominations in the fiercely contested ‘Grumpiest Rotarian Award’.  He did want it in the record that ‘I am not grumpy I just make observations!!!’.  Mike also shared, jointly with Joe Cairns, Silent Auction Hero for their sterling work for our annual fundraiser.

‘Inspiring Newcomer 2015’ as Jim Wylie, who added ‘What a lovely surprise. I will recompense those who voted for me accordingly at the bar’. We predict a large queue forming next week at lunch!

Best Rotarian Monologue went to Syd Graham because when he’s short he’s very short, but when he’s long he is very, very long!  Next, the Club was delighted to announce Suzanne Dickson (David Lindsay’s long suffering sister) as our Unsung Hero for the amazing work she does for the Silent Auction. Thanks to Alistair Ritchie and David Lindsay for getting her to lunch without knowing why.

The Lucky Bast**d Award went to Bill Montgomery for his choice in cars, planes, holidays and the one woman in his life.  Accepting his award from a 5 * hotel room he said ‘Many thanks,  this lucky bast**d is in Dubai in the sunshine!!’  What a lucky bast**d!!

Step Up the Mark Award, was given to Sandy Pearson for all his sterling efforts with IT all year round, especially the Silent Auction.

For the last 2 awards Fiona, handed over to President Dorward who eloquently announced the Lifetime Rotarian Achievement Award to Harry Robertson and finally the President’s Awards 2015 went to Alan Calderwood for his dedication to the club over the years.
