Lewisham Street Pastors have been patrolling the streets of Lewisham for over ten years. We have 36 Street Pastors who split into four teams, one team patrolling each weekend. We go out on Friday or Saturday night, mainly in New Cross, Deptford, Catford, Sydenham and Central Lewisham.
Our teams are made up of people from a wide variety of churches and backgrounds.
A team of Prayer Pastors supports our work, praying for us as we patrol the streets.
We have good relationships with local police, CCTV, night club door staff and others in the night-time economy.
We hand out water, flip flops, space blankets where appropriate, and offer signposting advice and reassurance.
We care, listen, help and try to make our streets a safer and kinder place. We are happy to be asked any questions about what we do and why we do it – we do not preach.
