Inspirational talk about the benefits of communication and the lessening of intolerance between cultures

Zabit in full flow

Tuesday 8th of March 2016 meeting held at the Globe Arena . The meeting was addressed by ZABIT AIMAL, a Rotary Peace Scholar currently based in Bradford, but whose home is now in USA. ZABIT gave a description of the conditions in his native Afghanistan, and the transition from family breadwinner at the age of seven, to a translator for the American forces. Here he encountered caring individuals, and this changed his perception of “Westeners”. He was so impressed by the knowledge that individuals from other countries and backgrounds were so similar to his own people that he started to encourage others to adopt open minds. He applied for a Rotary peace scholarship and was successful. ZABIT gave an impassioned talk which was entertaining , interesting and thought provoking, and emphasised that “The Rotary peace fellowship is doing so much to reduce the ignorance and closed mind attitudes which so often cause conflicts”.
