Dinner - Speaker will be Graham Meacher talking about

On Thursday 3rd November 2016 President Brian Johnson welcomed 22 Rotarians and guests speaker Graham Meacher MBE to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

On reception, this week was Wilna Roger and Peter May.

Before the meal President Brian Johnson had the pleasure of welcoming Ron Page previously involved in education, and involved with the A92 project, the North Glen Community Council and the Future Group as a member of Rotary.

Brian also advised that the Shoeboxes will be taken up to Perth next week for onward transmission to Easter Europe for Christmas.

Brian also advised that the money has been sent out for use in the Ugandan Health Centre project which we are involved with.

He also mentioned that the inner wheel were organising a night out on 18th November to listen to the Cantamus Choir in Markinch Town Hall.

Geoff Sampson advised that Balgeddie Hotel had generously returned the deposit for the cancelled ladies day.

Wilna Roger advised that the Annual Peace Walk will take place next Thursday evening 10th November 2016 with each of the schools leaving from their respective schools with Rotarians this year leaving from Glenwood High School and meeting up at the War memorial at the Town Centre for 7pm.

Our speaker this week was Graham Meacher MBE Regional Representative East of Scotland at SSAFA the Armed Forces charity. Graham is also Joint Managing Director of the British Forces Philatelic Service, a Community Interest Company set up to operate the Forces Philatelic Bureau on behalf of the British Forces Post Office. BFPS is a not-for-profit organisation which provides a philatelic service with a Forces perspective. The company fundraises for Service charities through the production and sale of commemorative philatelic covers (special envelopes) issued to commemorate military and state events and anniversaries. BFPS was set up by Graham with friend and colleague Lt Col Denis Dillon MBE.

Our speaker this week Thursday 10th November will be Kay Morrison Councillor, Fife's depute provost and Scottish Parliamentary candidate for Mid-Fife/Glenrothes to this a lunch time meeting at the Gilvenbank Hotel meet at 12.45pm for 12.55pm.

On reception, this week Thursday 10th November will be Archie Lawrie and Peter May.

Friends of Rotary is being promoted for those who would like to be involved in assisting in the community and internationally but have limited time and possibly can only commit on a part time basis.
