Dinner - Business meeting Council Reports

On Thursday 17th November 2016, SVP Lindsay Roy in the absence of President Brian Johnson took the chair as he welcomed 17 Rotarians to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

On reception, this week was Gerald Cameron who said grace and Peter May.

There was no speaker this week with this meeting being devoted to Council reports with the committee chairs giving members an update on their ongoing projects.

 SVP Lindsay Roy spoke about the clubs 60th anniversary, organising of a scatter week, and Friends of Rotary.

Murray Grubb mentioned that RYLA interviews would be going ahead and that the organising of the Primary School Quiz and High School Top of the form were in hand.

IPP Wilna Roger brought back greetings from the representatives of the area 8 Rotary Clubs meeting held last week.

The Young Chef of the year competition will be taking place this Thursday 24th Nov 2016 at Glenwood High School.

The senior Citizens Christmas party would be taking place at Auchmuty High School on 16th December 2016.

The Peace walk which took place last Thursday evening 10th Nov with Rotarians meeting at Glenwood and walking down with teachers and pupils meeting up with the other schools and churches and local dignitaries at the war memorial was another great success remembering the many who have given their lives in the quest for world peace.

The Glenrothes High School 50th anniversary celebrations were attended by some of the Rotarians last Monday 14th Nov which rolled back the years of the school and was a great success as many former pupils and teachers attended the event held over three days.

Fundraising Chair Iain Haywood confirmed that the Santa Collection will take place at ASDA on the weekend of 3 and 4th December 2016.

Tracy Thomson advised that the Christmas Fayre will take place at the Markinch Parish Church Hall on Saturday 10th December 2016. Tickets costing £3 for adults free for children with Tea and coffee and cakes provided and a Hamper prize for the winning entry ticket.

The speaker this week Thursday 24th November will be new member Ron Page who will be giving his combined vocational with this meeting previously listed as an evening meeting has been changed to lunch time, meeting at the Gilvenbank Hotel please meet at 12.45pm for 12.55pm.

On reception, this week Thursday 24th November will be Ewan MacDonald and Peter May.

A vocational visit took place at Haldane’s factory at Bankhead on Friday 18th Nov with MD Forrester Adam explaining the back ground of the company, many of the products they made and the custom they have had over the years also showing the 12 Rotarians round the factory and the state of the art equipment they have. Another company in Glenrothes who are doing so well

Friends of Rotary is being promoted for those who would like to be involved in assisting in the community and internationally but have limited time and possibly can only commit on a part time basis.
