Dinner - Business meeting

On Thursday 19th January 2017, President Brian Johnson welcomed 20 club Rotarians to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

Three apologies for absence were received.

On reception, this week were Lindsay who said grace and Peter May.

President Brian Johnson mentioned that the 60th Anniversary charter dinner will take place on 28th April 2017 and will be held at the Balbirnie Golf Club. Names and money, £25 per head to the assistant treasurer Geoff Sampson. He also mentioned on behalf of Foundation that the Annual fundraising Swimarathon will be going ahead again this year.

 

Wilna Roger advised that she is making final arrangements for the special Scottish evening on the evening of the 26th January 2017 which will involve many of the talented students from the High Schools, who will entertain the guests with singing, dance and musical instruments.

 

Community Chair Anne Sampson advised that the Young Chef of the Year District competition takes place in Dundee on Saturday 28th January 2017 with our representative Jaan Yilmaz from Auchmuty High School being supported by Anne and Geoff Sampson and Archie Lawrie.

 

Tracy Thomson advised that there 400 - 500 Shoe boxes are again to be transported up to Perth for Easter delivery with so much support being given by the people of Glenrothes in particular John Fergus school and Collydean Primary school. Vocational chair Murray Grubb advised that a visit to local firm Glendale Plastics will take place this Friday 27th January meeting at 2pm.

Fundraising Chair Iain Haywood once again promoted the Annual Sportsman’s dinner which will take place at the Gilvenbank Hotel on 24th March 2017.

Jim Boyd mentioned the High School Quiz to be held on Wednesday the 8th March with 10 schools already confirming attendance.

Treasurer Walter Fletcher gave a 6-month update on the clubs finances to December 2016.

On reception, this week Thursday 26th January 2017 will be Will Wishart and Peter May. This week is an evening meeting with a Scottish theme to celebrate burns night with the meeting being held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet by 6.15pm for a 6.30pm start.
