Supper -special Scottish evening which will involve many of the talented students from the High Schools, who will entertain the guests with singing, dance and musical instruments.

On Thursday evening 26th January 2017, President Brian Johnson welcomed 20 club Rotarians and 65 guests to this evening meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

 

On reception, this week were Lindsay Roy, Gerald Cameron, Will Wishart and Murray Grubb.

 

President Brian Johnson mentioned to the gathering about the Sportsman’s Dinner which will take place at the Gilvenbank Hotel on 24th March 2017.

 

This event which is turning out to be a great night on our social calendar was organised by Wilna Roger and themed as a special Scottish evening which involved many of the talented students from the High Schools, entertaining the gathering of 85 Rotarians, Students, parents and also representatives from the staff of the schools.
Piper, Pipe Major Connor Pratt. from Auchmuty High School started the evening off and then 2 Songs Candy and Caledonia by Paula Nutini and Gregor Kennedy John Huskie Jake Philp Chloe McCrae. Glenrothes HS. Drama acted out Burke and Hare's Dilemma by Jack Young and Katelyn Ashford from Glenwood HS. Dance was introduced into the evening by Millie McDaid from Glenrothes HS a tribute to JL Mc Kenzie,then a Song Selection from Auchmuty HS. Piper Campbell Stewart from Glenrothes HS played Scotland the Brave. A further song. Only Love by Ben Howard from Glenrothes H.S with a further Drama Stupe and Mole --- Grave Robbers Not So Extraordinaire by Amy Crawford, Erin Mirrison and Stephanie Cook from Glenwood HS. Piper played The Rowan Tree and The Green Hills of Tyrone. Glenrothes H.S. Caledonia was sung by Michael McLean from Glenwood H.S

The evening was rounded off with Rotary Club President Brian Johnson and the Rotary Vote of thanks being given by the organiser of a wonderful evening Wilna Roger who thanked all those for attending and the students for a highly successful evening of entertainment for all the guests and also chef Nick Moffat for a marvellous meal and the staff who worked tirelessly throughout the evening. who will entertain the guests with singing, dance and musical instruments.

 

On reception, this week Thursday 2nd February 2017 will be Bill Wooton and Peter May. This week reverts to a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet by 12.45pm for a 12.55pm start. Our speaker this week will be Linda Ballingall speaking about the Glenrothes Heritage Centre.

 

The District 1010 Young Chef of the year competition took place at the Dundee College Campus on Saturday 28th January 2017 as our representative Jaan Yilmaz carried the flag for Glenrothes. Although not placed in the first three he received fantastic feedback from all the judges. Jaan was supported by Rotarians Anne and Geoff Sampson and Archie Lawrie.
