Dinner - No Speaker, business meeting

On Thursday 16th February 2017, President Brian Johnson welcomed 19 club Rotarians and guest Julie Christiansen wife of Rotarian Lars to this lunch time meeting held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

Six apologies for absence were received.

On reception, this week were Lars Christiansen who said grace and Peter May.

President Brian Johnson advised the members that Giovanna wife of Honorary member Tom Davidson had sadly passed away last week, our sympathies go out to Tom and his family. Brian also asked the membership for approval to further fund the Burumbika Health Centre project in Uganda which had run short of money and thus enable completion of the building. This was duly granted. Brian once again mentioned that district was looking for Hosts for the Youth Exchange which was taking place this year. The Swimarathon fund raiser for the end Polio now campaign was taking place this weekend which Brian advised he was attending.

SVP Lindsay Roy mentioned Friends of Rotary and sought agreement that The Interactors at the High Schools should be offered associate membership of the Club on a year by year basis, this was agreed.

Murray Grubb mentioned the Primary School Quiz which is taking place next Thursday 23rd February to be held at Auchmuty High School commencing 6.30pm. The High School Top of the form will take place on the 8th March once again at Auchmuty High School.

Iain Haywood once again mentioned the Sportsman’s dinner on the 24th March 2017 and the need for good auction and raffle prizes, he said that ticket sales were going well.

Anne Sampson advised that on the 22nd February the young artist competition judging would take place at Glenwood High School. She also confirmed that the Kids out day at the Deer Centre had been confirmed as 14th June 2017

On reception, this week Thursday 23rd February 2017 will be May Ford and Peter May. This week is a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet by 12.45pm for a 12.55pm start. Our speaker will be Kenny Crichton of the Gilvenbank Sports Hub who will be our main recipients for the Sportsman’s dinner to be held on 24th March 2017.

The Rotary vote of thanks will given by Iain Haywood. 

The sad news came through on Friday that Bruce Fraser the head judge in the Young Musician Competition only two weeks ago, which had been held at Glenrothes High School had died of a heart attack, once again our sympathies go out to Bruce’s wife Pat and daughter Lynn.
