Our speaker this week was Kenny Crichton chairman of the Gilvenbank Community Sports Hub who will be our main recipients for the Sportsman’s dinner to be held on 24th March 2017. The hub was formed initially with involvement from Glenrothes Cricket Club. Glenrothes Athletic Football team and Glenrothes Tennis Club with the vision being for community involvement and use. The project which commenced 4 years ago, entailed £1 million of funding but unfortunately the time to be taken to raise the money was going to be to slow for the Tennis club as they wanted to get use of courts quicker and as such they pulled out and are now playing at Auchmuty High school. The Hub has a great relationship with the Community Council. Over the years so much investment has been put into the Michael Woods centre something was required and these facilities are much needed for the North Glenrothes Community, through consultation they found out that many people in the North Glenrothes area could not afford to get to the Michael Woods Centre. Work has already commenced out doors in this area, with a lot of drainage work undertaken. Due to the time delays the project and funding has had to be cut and now down to 4 changing rooms and a social space, not quite what was originally planned but having taken 4 years to get to this stage the Hub say they will take what they can get due to budget cuts and hopefully speak to other clubs and get them involved

The Rotary vote of thanks was given by Iain Haywood.

On reception, this week Thursday 2nd March 2017 will be Roy Francey and Peter May. This week is a lunch time meeting to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet by 12.45pm for a 12.55pm start. Our speaker this week will be Rector of Glenwood High School Neil McNeil talking about the alternative curriculum.
