Bedford Academy - mock inteviews

Lady and Gentlemen

An update!  First however my immediate thanks for piling in to help - your interest and enthusiasm is terrific and much appreciated, particularly so if I might say so to those who are not Rotarians at Bedford Castle.  Your willingness to help another Club is much appreciated.

The update to which I refer is that we have a firm date - Friday 24th March 2017.  I will send confirmation of the arrangements closer to the date but in general terms these are likely to be a repeat of the November outing that we had.  Suffice to say a gathering at 8.45 ready for a briefing at about 8.50/8.55 and a start close to 9.00 am.  We will be finished at or shortly after 12.10 as that is when the school breaks for lunch.

We will have similar literature etc issued  as last time - to my mind this helps enormously. The Academy are trying to improve matters their end which will also help.  In particular they are to brief the students rather more fully than previously so that a) they will be more aware and prepared for the interview and will hopefully get even more out of it and b) there will be a students "waiting area" so that we, as Interviewers, can go and collect another student for interview immediately we are ready to so do. This will hopefully get over the problem last time when students were "issued" to interviewers and where some interviewers had time on their hands as they were not sent another student, perhaps seeing only 2 or 3 for interview, while others had some 5 or 6 to deal with.

Additionally, we presently have a team of 12 interviewers - a little short of the ideal target of 20 or so.  We will have some 80 students to see (mainly year 12 with an age of either side of 16/17 perhaps) so we will be busy!  I am hoping that we might be able to increase our team to about 15/16 if we can as I am still awaiting some replies but if anyone knows of anyone else who can join us, that would be good news - and please let me know.

In the meantime, if you need further information or if I can help in any other way, please let me know.

Again my thanks for your involvement - so much appreciated.
