2017 Riverside Steam & Vintage Vehicle Steam Rally

Our 9th Riverside Steam & Vintage Vehicle Steam Rally took place on the weekend of the 22nd & 23rd April 2017. The principal organisers of the event are the Rotary Clubs of Preston South and Kirkham.  The event has become a firm fixture on the steam rally scene and draws exhibitors and visitors from all over the country.

What a fantastic weekend, the weather was sunny and warm and the numbers attending was the largest to date.  As with previous rallies there were hundreds of exhibits including a vast array of steam engines, trucks, cars, tractors, motor bikes and military vehicles.  In addition to these vintage vehicles there were again attractions for all the family and age groups at the fairground with numerous craft, trade and food stalls.  Mention must also be made of the ever popular and now famous Aunt Nellies Tea Room with its first class refreshments and music from the Wigan Ukulele Club.

A good time was had by all with many feeding back the good value and asking when the next year’s event will be.   Make sure you check out the montage of photos of the day.

This year’s event raised just over £38,000 for local charities.  This brings the total raised by the Steam Rally in 9 years to an impressive £300,000.  The Club has to say a big thank you to all those who organise and set up the event as well as exhibitors but more importantly to those who attend the event and pay their entrance fees with the re-assurance that it goes to good causes.
