Lunch Time meeting speaker Pippa Johnstone speaking about the Aberlour trust

Thu, Jul 27th 2017 at 1:00 am - 2:00 am

On Thursday 27th July 2017 President Lindsay Roy welcomed 21 Club Rotarians and speaker Pippa Johnston to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes.

Five apologies for absence were received.

On reception, this week were Chris Grist who said grace and Peter May.

Resident Lindsay Roy mentioned the next Council Meeting would be held on Monday 7th August and that members should create an agenda for the club ensuring they temper ambition with realism. A letter had been kindly received from Ally Hunter one of our RYLA students giving her the opportunity for going on a wonderful life changing experience.

Our speaker this week was Pippa Johnston from the Aberlour Scotland Children’s Charity who are there for children, young people and families across Scotland, helping transform lives for the better. They support them through challenges like living with a disability, growing up in and leaving care, and the impact of drugs and alcohol on families. They offer support at the earliest opportunity – giving children the best possible start in life which is at the heart of everything they do. They are committed to getting it right for their children by tailoring their services to help each child, young person and family achieve their own personal goals.

Aberlour has a rich history of delivering vital services to vulnerable children, young people and their families. Since their inception as an orphanage in Speyside in 1875 and the formal establishment of Aberlour Child Care Trust in 1976, they have developed a significant reputation for delivering the following services: residential care and fostering, dependency, early years, disability and early intervention youth work.

With 140 years of experience and learning behind them, their latest strategy is designed to help reinforce their reputation as Aberlour – Scotland’s children’s charity, the leading Scottish children’s charity and a major force for change. Their vision is to transform the lives of the children and families they work with and, through this, contribute to building a fairer and more equal society.

The Rotary Vote of thanks was given by Anne Sampson
