On Thursday 8th February 2018 President Lindsay Roy welcomed 20 Rotarians and 1 guest Paul Harris to our lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel.

On reception was Peter May, Andy Strachan with Geoff Sampson saying grace.

Five apologies for absence were received.

Anne Sampson circulated the Rotary Rag to members, being an update on our Clubs 2017 achievements during the last Calendar year. Anne also mentioned the Club Assembly date of 14th June 2018 also The Rotary Club of Buckhaven and Methil were holding an Abba Night on 20thApril 2018, tickets costing £5 each.

Iain Haywood once again mentioned the Sportsman’s dinner to be held on 23rd March 2018.

President Lindsay congratulated and thanked Archie Lawrie for pulling together the framework for the 60 years of Rotary and our achievements. He also mentioned the intergenerational mentoring on 22ndFeb 2018.

Brian Johnson mentioned that 3 teams from Auchmuty and Glenwood High Schools were supporting the club in the Swimarathon.

There was no speaker at this meeting, but President Lindsay Roy had the pleasure of inducting New member Paul P. Harris into the club, Paul who has a Physics degree has been involved most of his working career in the far east. He was one of the first employees with Siemens in Newcastle

We were highly entertained by pupils from Collydean Primary School Reciting Burns Poems, Mrs Mitchell brought along pupils Boss Cheung and Jodie Drinnan who recited “Tam O’Shanter”, Esmie Mitchell recited “To a louse” and Layla Reid “The Singing Tattie Bogle”.

The Rotary Vote of thanks was given by Andy Strachan.

This coming week 15th February 2018 as this a week for Council Reports there is no speaker.

The next meeting will be on the 15th February 2018 to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. Please meet 12.45pm for starting at 12.55pm.

On reception will be Peter May and Chris Grist saying grace.
