Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre

Wed, Apr 18th 2018 at 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Speaker Louise Williams - Service Director

This was a highly emotive subject delivered by Louise and then followed by Elizabeth.

The centre offers support for over 1000 women in Gloucester, it is totally confidential sometimes on a one-to-one basis and also in a group setting.

With the support of fully trained workers the victims feel less isolated and are helped to realise that what happened to them is not their fault.

We heard from Elizabeth who told her harrowing story that she and her sister suffered, this was a full and frank account of their lives when young.

The effect on all present was one of immense admiration for those who work with women who have been so betrayed in their lives and  the courage of Elizabeth who spoke so frankly of her experience, who stated that she feels not a victim but a survivor.
