The Cheese Festival

Thank you to everyone who came to the Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival! Our hugely popular annual event bringing visitors into the town from across the UK and raising much-needed funds for local charities.

Thank you to everyone who came to the 2018 Cheese Festival!

Despite weather forecasts threatening rain, more than 13,000 people enjoyed another super Cheese Festival this September. Visitors and exhibitors alike felt that the 2018 Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival was not only the best Cheese Festival ever but also the best Festival they had been to this year by far!

Over the weekend, alongside hundreds of stalls selling cheeses, food, drink, jewellery and crafts from across Dorset and the local area, visitors enjoyed fantastic cookery demonstrations in the festivals' Mousetrap Theatre from some of the finest chefs and food producers in Dorset, including celebrity chef Lesley Walters, Chococo and James Golding of The Pig Group. Revellers also happily sampled the vast array of local ciders and real ales, with all profits going to local charities and groups, whilst listening to a wide selection of fantastic live music.

The festival has seen a number of improvements this year, which were well received by visitors and exhibitors. The card payment system worked very well with over a third paying for their entry this way and together with the new ATMs helped deal with the difficulties caused following the closure of the last bank in town.
The committee, consisting of Rotarians and non-Rotarians, would like to thank all of the volunteers, exhibitors and visitors for their continued support of the Cheese Festival.

We'll look forward to seeing everyone again on the 14th and 15th September 2019 - which will be the 20th anniversary of the festival!
