Rotary Ride for Prostate Cancer

The annual Vintage Car Rally at the Links in Tain saw Rotarians from East Sutherland and Tain put on a special Father’s Day Challenge to raise awareness and over £1300 for Prostate Cancer Scotland - a Rotary Nationwide Project for Father’s Day.  Members not only led the way in getting on their bikes round all 500 miles of the North Coast 500 they challenged the public to join in or to sponsor them in that exhausting effort.  It was a hot and sunny day and that made it hard work but as the whole journey was done on static bikes at least the riders were spared the danger of keeping out of the way of the thousands of cars and motor bikes racing round the NC 500 (and they did not have to seek out public toilets that might have been closed either).  They were encouraged not only by the hundreds of visitors to the event but by the Tain Pipe Band who came and played for 20 minutes of the journey.  Cyclist Dave Mitchell who actually did 100 miles on the road completed a further 10 on the static bikes is pictured in front of the route map showing the progress.
