Lunch time meeting - Council Reports

On Thursday 17th January 2019 President Anne Sampson welcomed 16 Club Rotarians and the President of the Rotary Club of Leven Scott Dryburgh to this lunch time meeting which was held at the Gilvenbank Hotel, Glenrothes. 

On reception, this week were Will Wishart who said grace and Geoff Sampson.

President Anne confirmed that Chris Grist would take over the Secretaries role until the end of June which had been vacated by Jack Dempsey. The next casual informal meeting would take place on 14th Feb at 5.30pm. Various aspects of our regular meetings were discussed on whether we should continue with the grace and the toasts to the Queen and Rotary.

Anne mentioned that 4 Rotarians had visited Ross Fishers Taekwondo class on Sunday 13th January when the presentation of the cheque and a viewing of their new training gear with our logo on the top was made.

IPP Lindsay Roy mentioned that the mentoring project was receiving a lot of good and positive feedback.

Wilna Roger mentioned about needing assistance with Mock Interviews also that she had meetings regarding the Creative technology project being run for the first time this year. She along with President Anne had a meeting with the President of GAMA regarding joint collaborations.

Chris Grist mentioned that the Shelter box weekend will take place over 15-17th February 2018 at the Kingdom Centre.

Brian Johnson spoke about the possibility of us being involved in a sponsored Bike Ride for Prostate Cancer in June.

Tracy Thomson mentioned the next collection and delivery of shoeboxes would take place on 12th February.

Murray Grubb mentioned that Linda Ballingall had been approached again about assisting with the Primary School Quiz. He also covered off RYLA interviews and the Ian Chalmers Scottish Poetry competition.

Iain Haywood mentioned that we had a new member’s meeting on Monday 14th January 2019 at the Gilvenbank Hotel as a first step to increasing our membership. We had 5 interested parties with two leaving the meeting advising that they would join the club under a new format with the other three showing interest.,

There was no speaker this week as this meeting was for Council reports where members received updates from Council chairs about their ongoing projects.

This coming week on Thursday 24th January 2019 will be an evening meeting This will be our Scottish evening with Scottish entertainment being provided by the schools - a fun night' to be held at the Gilvenbank Hotel. please meet 6.15pm for starting at 6.30pm on reception will be Lindsay Roy and Geoff Sampson.

15 Rotarians and guests from the club attended the Rotary Club of Leven’s Burns supper last Friday evening on 11th January 2019 in what was a great night of humour, fellowship and of course Burns !!.
