Speaker from the Royal Highland Education Trust was Angela Mill, Assistant Co-ordinator for Fife.

RHET

Charity, founded in 1999, educating children of all pages about food, farming and the countryside. Aim to take the classroom to the countryside because there has been a loss of connection. 

They provide balanced information on food, farming and the countryside. An educational programme for children at the Royal Highland Show. Produces relevant curriculum linked resources. RHET receives recognition from Scottish Government. 

12 Countryside Initiatives, 10 board members, 1500 volunteers.Funded at £187,000 per annum. Used to hosts special food and farming days. Target primarily five and primary six kids. 

Biggest event locally is over 2 days at Cluny Clays in November each year. Others at Balgove Larder, Bowhouse, Barns Farm and Lindores. Countryside Day at Gilston Mains. In Fife 111 farm visits and 112 classroom talks. Thursday and Friday of the Royal Highland Show - 229 school groups, 6400 school children attend. In 2017-18 academic year, 12310 children participated. [in 2018 there were 693,251 children in education in Scotland]. 

Aim to have contact with every school child three times within their school life by 2025
