On Thursday 26th May President Brian Johnson welcomed 19 club Rotarians and 61 guests, including District Governor Heather Stuart and assistant Zone Governor Libby Seith to this our annual awards evening held at the Gilvenbank hotel.

What a wonderful evening at our awards evening celebrating the amazing talent in our schools here in Glenrothes and highlighting the work of our Rotary Club in the past year. Rotarian Wilna Roger spoke about the youth programmes run by our club, then Rotarian Anne Sampson presented pictures and videos from the winners of all our competitions - Young Photographer, Young Musician, Young Artist and our Scots Poetry Competition, with video recordings of our 2 young musicians. 2 community groups spoke about the support given by Rotary to their groups. Fife Gingerbread and Fife young Carers. Rotarian Geoff Sampson gave an emotional video presentation of our Ukraine appeal. Emma Robson Interact President from Glenwood High School spoke about the fundraising they have done in the past year for our Rotary projects. The evening finished with a Vote of thanks from our Vice President Scott Galloway. A huge thanks to Gilvenbank Hotel, food service, room layout all excellent, also thanks to Rotarian Wilna Roger and Anne Sampson for organising the event, Kay Johnson, Doreen Gray, Jean Haughey and Andrew Roger (who stepped in at last minute!) all on reception duty and everyone who supported the event

On Sunday afternoon 29th May 2022 we had organised a Comedy afternoon Brunch fundraiser at Gilvenbank Hotel where 79 including our District Governor Heather Stuart, and President of Howe of Fife Rotary Libby Elliot and President of Leven Rotary Morag Dawson were in attendance, with good company and entertainment. Thanks to the comedians who donated their time, Thanks also to the hotel for their food and service and thanks to our organiser Rotarian Iain Haywood. During the comedy charity brunch straight from her holidays Lynn Reilly managed to get our man with a van Paddy Reilly along to the charity dinner. Paddy had no idea what was about to take place as President Brian Johnson spoke about our Ukrainian appeal and then Paddy who has worked selflessly to support the Ukrainian crisis. After composing himself Paddy replied by confirming he was going to continue with the appeal. A selfless honest guy deserving of this recognition.

Thank you to everyone who has supported the event with the proceeds raised, approx. £2300 which will go to support our Ukraine appeal and other local groups.

We are organising an event in Walter Fletchers Garden to mark the Queens Jubilee on Sunday 5th June 2022.

This coming week Thursday 2nd June 2022 is a lunchtime meeting commencing at 1pm where our speaker will be Kevin O’Kane.

If you were interested in supporting the community and international projects get in touch by Private message on The Rotary Club of Glenrothes Facebook page. You will be made most welcome.
